Getting Involved

Volunteering

The Birmingham Book Festival uses a small number of volunteers each year to help manage our programme of events and activities and to help in the run up to the Festival. If you have some spare time, a passion for books and enjoy talking to people, you could be just what the Festival needs. If you would like to be involved please email joanne[at]birminghambookfestival.org.

The Birmingham Book Festival is part funded by Arts Council England. This year we are also particularly grateful to:

  • Birmingham Libraries/Birmingham City Council
  • South Birmingham College
  • Birmingham Conservatoire

Other Festival Supporters:

  • RSA
  • Birmingham Post
  • Waterstone’s
  • Tindal Street Press
  • National Academy of Writing
  • BBC Radio Four
  • West Midlands Readers’ Network
  • Ikon

Our thanks also go to the many publishers and agencies we work with to programme and promote our events.

Sponsorship

We are always happy to discuss ways in which your business or organisation can get involved with the Birmingham Book Festival and offer numerous sponsorship and partnership opportunities. Please get in touch through our contact page.

Friends Scheme

This scheme is designed to allow support and engagement of those who wish to help the Birmingham Book Festival and the work it does encouraging the city of Birmingham to read, write and think.

The money generated through the scheme will be used directly to continue our work, creating innovative and inspirational opportunities for readers and writers in Birmingham and the West Midlands.

As a Friend you are welcome to contact us at any time to share suggestions or ideas. We are always willing to try new activities, and know that it is our audiences who make the Festival what it is.

Cost: A donation of your choice between £25 – £100.

Benefits:

  • 10% off all tickets booked (excludes group ticket prices)
  • A Festival Welcome Pack (three books from authors appearing at this year’s festival, selected for you by the Festival Directors)
  • Notes from the Directors (we are happy to hear your ideas and will feed through information about the Festival from time to time outside of public channels)
  • Festival Drinks ( a private function at the opening of the Festival to welcome you and whet your appetite for the month of literature to come)

If you are interested in signing up, please email joanne[at]birminghambookfestival.org.

In 2010 we will be introducing new levels of engagement. In the meantime, if you would like to support the Festival in a way not covered by this scheme, please feel free to contact us about this. We’d love to hear from you.
